How long does it take to swear in at MEPS?
You’ll officially complete the process of joining the Military once you meet all of the Service requirements assessed at the MEPS. The process typically takes one to two days, with food and lodging provided.
Do you swear in twice at MEPS?
It depends based on your recruiter. Some recruiters arrange everything so you can sear in the same day you do your medical evaluation, while others deliberately bring you on another date for you to swear in. Can I go to MEPS on my period?
You can go on your period but it may affect your urine test. Not drugs but protein so drink lots of water. Just the doctor and a medical tech will see you naked, other applicants will see you in underwear. You can wear spadex underwear as long as it isn’t really long.
Do I have to shave for MEPS?
Nope. It is just like the first time you ever went to MEPS. You do not have to shave, have a hair cut etc. You simply have to show up, follow their little checklist of what not to bring and/or do and follow orders.
Can family watch you swear in?
Members of your family are welcome to watch you take the oath. A waiting room is available for them. Your family may take photographs of you with the military officer administering the oath.
What happens the day you leave for basic training?
You will be at your Basic Training base. However, those 6 days from show to “start” are the days you will be in Reception. This will be where you will be issued uniforms, your ID, shots, glasses (if needed), and your SSN memorized.if you don’t already.
Can you choose when to leave for basic training?

Can I quit after MEPS?
If you went through all the motions of signing up for a military service only to decide it is not right for you and you have NOT been to the Military Entrance Processing Station ( MEPS ) and have NOT taken an Oath of Enlistment, you are free to quit the process at any time.
