Camp Pendleton
Camp Pendleton provides training facilities for many active-duty and reserve Marines, Army and Navy units, as well as national, state and local agencies. Over 60,000 military and civilian personnel work aboard the base every day. The base is the home of I Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st Marine Division, 1st Force Service Support Group and many tenant units, including elements of Marine Aircraft Group 39 and Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA).
Oceanside, CA
Oceanside is a city in San Diego County, California, north of the city of San Diego. As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 161,029. Together with Vista and Carlsbad, it makes up the Tri-City area.
The Oceanside Pier, first built in 1888, is the longest wooden pier on the western United States coastline at 1,954 feet.
The bungalow house featured in Top Gun, starring Tom Cuise, is located on the Oceanside Strand, a section of residential houses along the coastline.
From June 20 through June 28, 1997, a record 221,000 fans watched the X Games III held in San Diego and Oceanside. The surfing competition took place at the Oceanside Harbor Beach.
The California Surf Museum is located on 223 North Coast Highway, a.k.a. Hill Street, in downtown Oceanside.
Oceanside has a large skateboarding park located downtown, just a few minutes from the white sand beaches and the Pier.
Every fourth of July thousands of Oceansidians and people from the surrounding communities flock to the Pier to watch a spectacular fireworks show.
Oceanside is home to Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, one of the California missions.
Oceanside currently enjoys a diverse economic portfolio and has a number of business advantages.
