Edwards AFB
The Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., is the Air Force Materiel Command center of excellence for research, development, test and evaluation of aerospace systems for the United States and its allies. It operates the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School and is home to NASA’s Dryden Research Center and considerable test activity conducted by America’s commercial aerospace industry.
Lancaster, CA
Since the 1930's, when the first airplane was brought to the area and the Air Force started conducting flight tests at Muroc Air Base, Lancaster has grown relatively steadily. Edwards Air Force Base, famous for its space shuttle landings and birthplace of Murphy's law, is near-by. Lancaster is home ot the Class A minor league Jethawks baseball team. Until it was incorporated in 1977, the area was under the political influence of Los Angeles County.
