Great Falls, MT
Great Falls, Montana is widely known for its natural beauty, beginning with the Lewis & Clark expedition where Meriwether Lewis called the area around the Missouri River a superbly grand spectacle. In 1805, Lewis, Clark and the Corps spent nearly a month portaging around the five sets of waterfalls from which Great Falls gets its name. This natural beauty has made Great Falls a top travel destination. You can commemorate the Corps of Discovery's time in what is now the Great Falls area during Explore! The Big Sky -- a National Signature Event -- June 1, - July 4, 2005.
Great Falls, lies near the geographical center of Montana, between two National Parks. Great Falls proudly serves as the Gateway to the Glacier-Waterton International Peace Park and a main thoroughfare to Yellowstone Park.
Great Falls is home to Malmstrom Air Force Base and the 341st Space Wing. The 341st Operations Group provides the forces to launch, monitor and secure the wing's Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) and missile alert facilities (MAF).
